About Me
I am an RHS qualified gardener. I started gardening as a way of getting some exercise and avoiding the gym – the garden definitely smelt nicer!
I have always gardened but in the last few years I have become much more than a dedicated enthusiast (I may now qualify as a “gardening bore”) – coincidentally the offers to meet up for coffee or lunch also seemed to have dropped away.
Whilst I admire a landscaped garden – and would happily spend the day wandering around Stourhead – I love practical gardening and am slowly turning my own garden in to my larder. I grow all things edible – fruit, flowers, herbs and veg – with a couple of “naughty” exceptions: freesias (although I have since found a recipe for them) and a few decorative shrubs.
I grow most of my plants from seed – yes, it can be slow progress but, as they said in the Guinness ads; Good things come to those who wait!
The website is called Mud Patch because I garden on clay and you only need to have a light shower for the ground to be come just that – sticking to your spade and weighing down your boots.
