- Continue tidying the garden – collect leaves for mulching, raise pots off the ground and put bubble-wrap around them, bring tender plants into the greenhouse, tidy back the bamboo and put grease bands around the fruit trees.
- Lightly prune roses and other perennials which could be damaged by the wind. Divide Acanthus and try taking root cuttings from the oriental poppies. Lift dahlias and cannas to protect from frost.
- Ensure pots available for arrival of new bare-root trees. Prune Contorted Hazel and other deciduous trees over the dormant period.
- Finish digging vegetable plot and cover with black polythene.
- Clean and sharpen garden tools and book lawn mower service. Protect outside tap if temperatures drop.
